Krishna Dronamraju is a geneticist and author of many books in genetics, medical genetics and history of science. He worked with Victor McKusick in medical genetics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and recently edited, with Clair Francomano, (eds) Victor McKusick and the History of Medical Genetics, published by Springer, New York, 2012. He was a member of the U.S. Presidential delegation led by President Bill Clinton to India to promote cooperation in science and technology in 2000. Dr. Dronamraju served on the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the National Advisory Committee of the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture

Dronamraju's research focused on the history of genetics and human/medical genetics.the mechanisms of Speciation in plants and plant-pollinator interaction, and also the pollinating behavior of butterflies is considered quite significant.His research papers on the visits of several species of Lepidoptera to different colored flowers of Lantana camara reported the discovery of a species-specific pattern of color preference behavior by pollinating insects.

Dr. Nadia Jessel is the Leader of the “Active Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering” team at INSERM French National Institute for Health and Medical Research. Dr. Jessel got the permanent position (CR1) in the INSERM 595 laboratory in 2004 and currently Research Director in the INSERM 977 and heads the team.

Dr Tom McKeon is a research chemist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service at the Western Regional Research Center in Albany.He received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.He is co-organizer of the 8th ISBAB Symposium to be held October 28-31, 2012, in the Sonoma Valley Wine Country of California.

His research area is the biochemistry of castor oil biosynthesis and involved in aspects of agronomy, toxin detection and chemurgy of castor to promote its reintroduction as a US crop.

Dr. Meghana Joshi is the Program Director for Biocon-KGI certificate programs based at Keck Graduate Institute, California, USA. Dr. Joshi received her PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by post-doctoral experience at M.D.Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas and Columbia University, New York. Dr. Xiaohua He is a Research Molecular Biologist at the Western Regional Research Center, USDA-ARS. She completed her Ph.D. from UC Riverside, and had Post-doc experiences at Purdue and Cornell Universities. Dr. He received the 2015 USDA Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer, Far West Region, Outstanding Technology Development Award for her contribution to the development of novel monoclonal antibodies against a broad range of Shiga toxins. She has served as academic editor and editorial board member of several leading journals and is an author/inventor of over 70 publications and patents, with 14 technologies licensed to industry.

Dr. Leburton joined the University of Illinois in 1981 from Germany, where he worked as a research scientist with the Siemens A.G. Research Laboratory in Munich. In 1992, he held the Hitachi LTD Chair on Quantum Materials at the University of Tokyo, and was a Visiting Professor in the Federal Polytechnic Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2000. He is involved with research in nanostructures modeling and in quantum device simulation. His present research interest encompasses non-linear transport in quantum wires and carbon nanotubes, and molecular and bio-nanoelectronics He is author and co-author of more than 300 technical papers in international journals and books.

Dr. Yinghua Huang is a Research Geneticist for U.S. Department of Agriculture and serves as the Lead Scientist for the Plant Genetics Program. Before that, he served as faculty member for Oklahoma State University for ten years and now remains an Adj. Professor at the university. He is a member of editorial boards for several scientific journals. He earned a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University. His scientific background is in plant genetics and molecular biology, and he has considerable research experience in plant biotechnology, genomics and crop improvement. During his early career, Dr. Huang made a breakthrough in developing a reliable system for producing transgenic larch plant, which represents the first record of genetically engineered conifer tree, carrying the important traits such as resistance to insects and herbicide. Another example of his recent research accomplishments is the systematic evaluation of the US sorghum germplasm collection (> 42,000 accessions), leading to the discovery of important new sources of resistance to greenbug and sugarcane aphids, the most important insects of field crops, including barley, sorghum and wheat, then incorporation of the new resistance into crop breeding programs. Furthermore, using the cutting-edge microarray, RNA-seq and the next-generation sequencing technologies, his lab has generated the differential expression profiles which resulted in the identification of the key genes and the networks that regulate the host defense against insect pests, crop yield traits, and bioenergy quality in sorghum. In summary, the overall goals of his research are to conduct basic studies to enhance our understanding of biological processes in plants, to apply newly developing genomics and biotechnologies to facilitate genetic improvement of crop plants, and finally to improve the production system for a better utilization of agricultural and natural resources.

Preeti Bais is a Scientist at the Computational Sciences group at the Jackson Lab’s new research institute at University of Connecticut - JAX Genomics Medicine (JGM). It is an independent, nonprofit organization focusing on mammalian genetics research to advance human health. She holds a Ph.D. in bioinformatics and Computational Biology with a minor in Statistics. Her research focus is in the application of statistical methodologies and machine learning to the area of systems biology, especially metabolomics for hypothesis generation and validation. She has utilized mass spectrometry for drug toxicity screening along with autism, cancer, and neuromuscular degeneration biomarker testing. She is currently working in the area of microbiome and neoepitope prediction methods for cancer immunotherapy using next generation sequencing data and cloud computing.

1978 and 1999 has completed his Ph.D and D.Sci. at the ages of 33 and 54 years from Zelinsky Instiute of Organic Chemistry, Moscow, Russia and Durmishidze Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Tbilisi, Georgia, respectively. 2006 up to date he is the head of laboratory of plant biopolymers at the Tbilisi State Medical University Institute of Pharmacochemistry. 1996 and 2002 he has been a visiting scientist at Utrecht University (faculty of pharmacy), The Netherlands, by University Scholarship and The Netherlands organization for scientific research (NWO) Scholarship Scientific Program, respectively. He has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals.

Rosy I M A Ribeiro obtained his Postgraduate degree from the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Pathology. She is an associated professor of Cell Biology at Medicine Department of Federal University of São João del Rei (UFSJ), Brazil. Dr. Sugaya accepted a position at the University of Central Florida as a full professor in 2004. He continues to have interests in treating neurodegenerative diseases by stem cell technologies, and his work at UCF has been introduced by Wall Street Journal and other media. He is a Director of the Stem Cell Laboratory and Director of the Neuroscience Consortium for Central Florida. He is also serving as a Council member of the Florida State organization, the Center for Universal Research to Eradicate Disease.

His research focus is to develop stem cell therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and ALS.

Vlasta Pilizota is a Professor at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Croatia, since 1979. She teaches number of courses at undegraduate study, Master, Ph. D. and Professional studies, such as Fruits and vegetable processing and preservation, Food Chemistry, Minimally processed fruits and vegetables, and others. She was a lead scientist of many national and international scientific projects. Youhe Gao is a Professor, Beijing Normal University. Majid Ghassemi is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department at the K. N. Toosi University of Technology; one of the most prestige’s technical university in Tehran, Iran. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research at the University of Birmingham. Professor Ghassemi has been endorsed by The Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom as an Exceptional Talent. United Kingdom selects only a small number of scientists per year from all over the world as an Exceptional Talent. Professor Ghassemi teaches graduate and under graduate courses and conduct research in the area of heat transfer and its application in bio and micro sensors, drug delivery, fuel cells, micro-channels and alternative energy. He has over 20 years of academic and industrial experience and served as the President of the K. N. Toosi University of Technology from 2010 through 2013. Professor Ghassemi has also served in several public and private boards and panels and supervised several undergraduate, masters and PhD students, published several books and many journal and conference papers. He is currently an Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Prevention and Treatment and Managing Editor of the American Journal of Mechanical Engineering (AJME) as well as Editorial Board member for many international journals. He also serves as member in several international conferences. Professor Ghassemi received his Ph.D.in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1993.

Dr A Biju Kumar is the Professor and Head of Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries and Assistant Director of Centre for Global Academics, University of Kerala, India. He has his PhD from the University of Kerala, India and has over 25 years of teaching and research experience in the fields of marine biodiversity, taxonomy and ecology. Dr. Kumar has won young scientist award from Government of Kerala and Indian Academy of Environmental Sciences. Of late his research focus on molecular taxonomy, phylogeny and phylogeography of marine organisms. He is involved in policy development as expert committee member in state and national agencies in India. He has published over 120 research papers and over 23 books. Satyawada Rama Rao has obtained his M.Sc and Ph.D. degree from University of Jodhpur and taught at the same institution for more than 20 years before joining North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong as Professor of Plant Biotechnology. He has published more than 55 papers in journals of International repute, and is presently a member of Research Policy Council of Indian Council of Forest Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, India.

Dr. Sukanta Mondal is currently working as Principal Scientist at ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bangalore, India. He has been working in the field of genomics of hormones, reproduction and stress for last 19 yrs. His major research interests includes maternal recognition of pregnancy, cloning, characterization and expression of genes, understanding the mechanism of action of hormone on the reproductive tract, molecular characterization and expression of hormone receptors, cell signaling, understanding of mechanism that regulate ovarian follicular development etc. He is an outstanding reproductive biotechnologist who designed novel strategies for augmenting reproductive efficiency in sheep and buffaloes. He is a leading expert in climate change and has deciphered the molecular basis of climate change impact on embryonic survivality in sheep. He pioneered the development of heat stress and nutritional stress model that will facilitate development of amelioration strategies to augment embryo survivality. He was also instrumental in developing technology for augmenting egg production in layer birds by exposing red spectrum of light (675 nm) and validated in Poultry Breeding Farm at Mysore, Karnataka. He is a recipient of prestigious Overseas Associateship Award (long term) by Department of Biotechnology. He has published over 60 papers in various National and International journals of repute and delivered invited lectures in different conference throughout the country. His pioneering contribution in genomics has received prestigious awards like Prof. G. P. Talwar Midcareer Scientist award, Prof. G. K. Pal award, Dr. K. Anji Reddy award, Prof. P. B. Sen Memorial Oration award and ISSRF Young Scientist Award. He is honored with the Fellow of Indian Association of BioMedical Scientitsts, Fellow of Society for Applied Biotechnology and Fellow of Indian Chemical Society etc.

Dr. Murugan Ramalingam is Professor at the Centre for Stem Cell Research (a unit of the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine-Bengaluru), Christian Medical College Campus, India. Concurrently he is Adjunct Professor at the Tohoku University, Japan. Prior to joining the CSCR, he was Associate Professor of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, Faculté de Chirurgie Dentaire, Université de Strasbourg, France. He has worked at the WPI Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Japan, as an Assistant Professor. He has also worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), under the U.S. National Academies Associateship program. He received his Ph.D. in Biomaterials from the University of Madras. He has also undergone training in Ethical and Policy issues on Stem Cells from Harvard University, USA, and in Operations Management from the University of Illinois-Chicago. His current research interests are focused on the development of multiphase biomedical materials, through conventional to nanotechnology to biomimetic approaches, microfabrication, cell patterning, stem cell differentiation, tissue engineering and drug delivery. He is the author of ~300 publications, including peer-reviewed journal papers, conference proceedings, book chapters, authored books, edited books, and patents relevant to biomaterials, stem cells, and tissue engineering. His current h-index is 30 with ~7000 citations. He has organized several international conferences and chaired Biomaterials, Nanobiotechnology, Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering sessions. He also serves as a board member of several international scientific and research committees in various public and private bodies and grant reviewer of various international funding agencies. He serves on the editorial boards of multiple biomaterials and tissue engineering-related journals, including the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering and the Journal of Bionanoscience. He is a recipient of several prestigious fellowships and awards, including CSIR Fellowship (India), SMF Fellowship (Singapore), NRC National Academies Fellowship (USA), Nationale Professeur des Universités (France), Fellow of Institute of Nanotechnology (UK) and Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).

Dr. Dev Mani Pandey is working as Associate Professor at the Department of Bio-Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. He has completed his Ph. D. (Plant Physiology) from Chaudhary Charan Singh, Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India. He was Consultant to Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology, IRRI, Los Banos, Philippines. He has received Young Scientist Award in Indian Genetics Congress-2015.He has published several research papers in peer reviewed journals.

His research intrest mainly focuses on Molecular Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, Functional Genomics, Bioinformatics.

Charles H Williams completed his PhD in 1968 and then a Post-Doctoral at the Institute for Enzyme Research with David E Green on mitochondrial studies. He also published with Henry A Lardy at the Enzyme Institute. He moved to Missouri as Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Assistant Professor of Medicine. He relocated to TTUHSC-El Paso in 1982 where MH research was his primary area of interest. He has published over 50 papers in refereed journals and has presented posters and lectures at many international events.
