Gayle Woloschak, PhD, professor in the Feinberg School of Medicine Departments of Radiation Oncology, Radiology and Cell and Molecular Biology, is currently involved in nine federally funded research studies, acting as the principal investigator on five of them. A renowned scientist, Woloschak has published numerous articles in journals like Molecular Immunology, Nature Materials and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and has her name registered on a long list of inventions. She has numerous faculty appointments at universities across the world. D.V. Gokhale, Retired scientist, worked at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune, India for over 40 years. He was Scientist In-Charge of NCIM Resource Center for more than 12 years. NCIM Resource Center is a national facility and microbial culture repository dedicated to isolation, preservation and distribution of authentic and industrially important microbial strains. He published more than 85 peer-reviewed research papers, 6 US patents and 5 Indian patents. He is currently associated with CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory in the capacity of a Professor of AcSIR, New Delhi, India. Ahmed Hegazi is currently a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in the National Research Center, Egypt. Prof. Hegazi received his master’s degree in 1979, and his PhD in 1981. Hegazi's research work has been focused lately on bee products and their therapeutic effects. Hegazi organized and contributed to national and international research projects since 1977 and up till now; he has been the principal investigator on multiple research projects within the National Research Center. He has published 211 scientific papers and articles in national and international journals. He also served on the board of multiple national and international scientific journals. Dr. Hegazi is also the president of the Egyptian Environmental Society for Uses and Production of Bee Products, secretary of the Egyptian Society of Apitherapy, secretary general of the African Federation of Apiculture Associations, and a member of the International Apitherapy Commission (APIMONDIA). Professor Saber F. M. Moussa works in Plant Protection Research Institute, ARC, Cairo, Egypt since 1973 till now. Bing-Huei Chen, male, food scientist, received his Ph.D. degree in Food Science & Technology, Texas A & M University, USA in 1988. Main Naser Alolayyan is a PhD holder in Health Quality and Productivity Improvement from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He obtained his MSc from Yarmouk University in cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), in 2006, with concentration in the field of health service management. He obtained his Bachelor in Medical Technology from Baghdad University in 2002. Currently working as Assistant Professor in Health Management and Policy (Faculity of Medicin) in Jordan University of Science and Technology. His research works have appeared in journals such as Total Quality Management and Business Excellence, The Asian Journal on Quality, Int. J. Services and Operations Management, Int. J. of Productivity and Quality Management and the Journal of Global Management. Henry M. Sobell completed his studies at Brooklyn Technical High School (1948-1952), Columbia College (1952-1956), and the University of Virginia School of Medicine (1956-1960). Instead of practicing clinical medicine, he then went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to join Professor Alexander Rich in the Department of Biology (1960-1965), where, as a Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Fellow, he learned the technique of single crystal X-ray analysis. He then joined the Chemistry Department at the University of Rochester, having been subsequently jointly appointed to both the Chemistry and Molecular Biophysics departments (the latter at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry), becoming a full tenured Professor in both departments (1965-1993). His current R&D activities include R&D developments in the Materials Science field interfacing with nano(bio)technology, i.e., conducting functional polymers, (b) chemically modified hard nanoscale fillers, (c) UV-photoreactive nano(micro)particles (surface nano(micro)structuration of polymeric coatings, hybrid metallic catalytic particles), (d) antibacterial organic/inorganic NPs and coatings, and (e) innovative surface modifications of iron oxide (magnetite/maghemite) NPs towards gene silencing (siRNA/microRNA in vitro/in vivo delivery) and anti-parasitic bio-activity. Moreover and quite recently, he deeply focused on and elaborated various innovative organic chemistry-based methodologies for the development of effective covalent versatile interfacial chemistries towards chemically taylored non-toxic mechanically hard functional inorganic (i) tungsten disulfive nanotubes and (ii) tribology-effective fullerene-like tungsten disulfide nanoparticles.

IR. DR. LAI CHIN WEI is a senior lecturer in the Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre, University of Malaya. He received his Ph.D (2013) from School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering, University of Science Malaysia in nanomaterials and nanoscience. Lai’s main research interests are in the areas of chemically modified metal oxide photocatalysts and carbon graphene materials, especially apply in environmental pollution management and solar energy technology. Lai has contributed immensely to the development and enhancement in science & technology in Malaysia, particularly in developing, optimizing and simplifying the technology lies in the synthesis of nanoparticles, metal oxide nano-architecture and carbon/graphene materials which are of high significance for green energy and environment applications. Lai’s works have been published in more than 120 refereed international top-tier journals with h-index of 18 and 100 international proceedings in materials science, physics, chemistry, and renewable energy researches. In all, Lai has reviewed more than 200 papers in the past few years, mainly for top international journals and conferences. Since 2013, his research has been funded by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, MOHE (FRGS, HIR-MOHE); Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia, MOSTI (E-Science fund, National Nanotechnology Development), and internal University funding (University of Malaya Research Grant). Being a reputable researcher, his enthusiasm and dedication towards research work, Lai has won several prestigious university, national and international awards in exposition on research innovation, invention & solution. In addition, he successfully awarded “Certificate of Excellent Service UM” for his excellent contribution and service in the year of 2013, 2014 and 2015. Through his work nanomaterials and catalysis field, Lai was awarded the University of Malaya Excellence Awards in the category of outstanding researcher- UM Young Researcher (Sciences Discipline) and selected to be a member of the Young Scientist Network – Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) in 2015. Lately, Lai was awarded as Finalists National Young Scientist Award 2018 by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia and won Mass Young Researcher Award 2018 by Malaysian Solid State Science & Technology Society, Malaysia. On professional qualifications, Lai registered as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in Material Engineering discipline with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and registered as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council, UK in 2017. Lai is an active member in The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM, MAL), Energy Institute (EI, UK) and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE, UK). Dr. Bhattacharjee did her B.Sc in Biotechnology from Bangalore University in 2006 and M.Sc in Applied Genetics from Bangalore University in 2008. She then moved to England to pursue her DPhil (Phd) in Biochemistry from Oxford University where she studied the role of Fml1 and its partner proteins Mhf1 and Mhf2 in promoting genome stability. She was awarded her DPhil in 2012. During her time at Oxford, she was also a tutor at Greene’s College, Oxford. In 2013, Dr. Bhattacharjee moved to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York. At CSHL, her work has focused on understanding the epigenetic regulation of DNA repair. She is also an academic tutor at the Watson School of Biological studies, the school for graduate studies at CSHL.

He is the director of the Department of Molecular Genetics at Carmel Medical Center and associated professor at the Department of Human Biology, University of Haifa. He has published more than 75 papers in reputed journals and serving as a member of the Israel Council for Higher Education. He is the inventor of designing long-acting recombinant proteins and the initiator of PROLOR Biotech company

1978 and 1999 has completed his Ph.D and D.Sci. at the ages of 33 and 54 years from Zelinsky Instiute of Organic Chemistry, Moscow, Russia and Durmishidze Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Tbilisi, Georgia, respectively. 2006 up to date he is the head of laboratory of plant biopolymers at the Tbilisi State Medical University Institute of Pharmacochemistry. 1996 and 2002 he has been a visiting scientist at Utrecht University (faculty of pharmacy), The Netherlands, by University Scholarship and The Netherlands organization for scientific research (NWO) Scholarship Scientific Program, respectively. He has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals.

Rob Krams is Chair and Professor of Molecular Bioengineering at Imperial College London. Prof Krams is trained as a medic and received his BSc (1987) and PhD (1990) degrees from the University of Amsterdam. His interest is in mechanobiology of blood vessels and he uses a combination of imaging, genomics and computational methods to elucidate genomic network information from endothelial cells. A new interest is in high throughput technologies. After a period of postdoctoral training in John Hopkins (Baltimore, USA), he moved to the world-renowned Thorax center (Rotterdam, NL) where he developed his skills in mechanobiology and imaging. From 2004-2008 he was a recipient of an established investigatorship of the Dutch Heart Foundation. He joined Imperial College in 2007.

Atherosclerosis, develops at predilection sites that are associated with changes in the blood velocity pattern. Endothelial cells are sensors for mechanical forces and mechanobiology has emerged as a new field of research, touching area’s as immunology, stem cell research, hearing, touching and pain. To that end we develop new technologies to study cells in well defined mechanical environments where we specifically focus upon mechanosensitive signalling pathways. The newly developed technologies consist of a platform where techniques like high throughput systems, microfluidics, quantitative imaging and synthetic biology smoothly interact.

Born in Rome the 7/12/1949, 5 children, held the medical degree at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with full honour. VC is specialist in Clinical of Infectious Diseases (University of Rome) and in Hygiene and Public Health (University of Pisa), and PhD in Immunology (Brunnel University, England). His doctorate and post-doc experience have been carried out at the Clinical Research Centre in Harrow (England). He has been Assistant in Microbiology, and Associate professor in Immunology at the University of Pisa. Since 2000 to now, VC is Full Professor of Immunology and Director of the UNESCO Chair in Biotechnology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. VC has been also President (2007-2010) of the Board of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases “Lazzaro Spallanzani” in Rome, Italy. He is consultants for several agencies of the United Nations (UNESCO, UNDP, OMS) and is scientific coordinator of several European and international Projects. VC has been Scientific Director and member of the Board of the International Reference Centre for AIDS “Chantal Biya” in Yaoundé, Cameroon and President of the University Spinoff Eurobiopark (European Group of Biotechnology at the Tior Vergata Science Park). VC published over 260 scientific publications on peer-review journals (Nature, Journal of Immunology, Infection and Immunity, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Immunology, Clinical Experimental Immunology, A, IDS, AIDS and Human Retrovirus Journal, etc.) in the sector of Microbial Immunology and Infectious Diseases, with special focus on AIDS and Tuberculosis.

Lidietta Giorno is a membrane biotechnologist with a strong background in biological science, chemical technologies, and new materials. Her research experience includes membrane bioengineering, biocatalytic membrane reactors, integrated membrane systems for bioseparations and bioconversions, downstream processing based on molecular separation, membrane chirotechnology, and membrane emulsifiers. She has been involved in membrane science and engineering research and development for almost twenty years. She is Director of the Institute on Membrane Technology of the National Research Council of Italy, ITM-CNR, and is involved in research co-operations at the European and international levels. Dr. Giorno has worked abroad in the USA at Sepracor Inc., in 1992; in The Netherlands at ATO-DLO, in 1994; in France, at The University of Compiegne, in 1997 and 2000. She is Visiting Professor at Tianjin University of Science and Technology, China, since 2008. Lidietta Giorno is co-author of three books and some 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers in international journals. She is a member of the editorial boards and referee pools of scientific journals and research agencies, and she sits on the boards of several international committees and scientific societies. In addition, Dr. Giorno has served on the European Membrane Society Council for two mandates and is currently the President of the EMS Council and editor of the EMS Membrane Newsletter.

Dr Lucijan Mohorovic attained his MD, and specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, from the School of Medicine of the University of Rijeka. His specialist education continued with postgraduate studies in social medicine and ecology, after which he completed his PhD Doctorate in Medicine with a thesis entitled: " THE INFUENCE OF COAL COMBUSTION PRODUCTS ON THE COURSE OF PREGNANCY AND ITS OUTCOME IN MICRO- REGIONAL CONDITIONS”. Rijeka 1991. For more than 20 years he has focused on the protection of a healthy environment, originating from medical praxis in obstetric and gynecological primary care and long-term empirical observation of, and scientific research into, coal burning products which are harmful to reproductive health in the airpolluted environment around a coal power plant. He was nominated by the Institute of Medicine of the US National Academies for the 2009 Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health. To facilitate development of novel drugs and lay the groundwork for a new research projects with the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry, we underline the usefulness of developing nanotechnologies being pursued to produce pharmacologically efficacious reducing agent where the methemoglobin reductase is overwhelmed, and a valuable contribution to neurodegenerative disease prevention and novel therapy aimed at reducing pathological methemoglobin ferric iron (Fe3+) back to hemoglobin ferrous iron (Fe2+).
